Ducks in a row

Strategic planning meeting 에 들어가면 manager 들이 항상 쓰는 구절 (business jargon) 이다. 어제 있었던 5 year strategic planning meeting 중에 나의 manager 인 Larry 가 여지없이 하는 말이다.

If we're going to propose the new idea to our customer, it's time to get our ducks in a row.

get 대신에 have 를 쓰는 경우도 있다. 어미오리 (manager) 가 새끼오리 (staff) 들을 한줄로 (in a row) 정렬시켜 먹이 (funding) 를 찾으러 돌아다니는 것을 떠올리면 무슨 뜻인가 짐작이 간다.

Plan ahead in organized, timely, and efficient manner.
